Glacier National Park is filled with massive mountain peaks and turquoise lakes. It’s the perfect spot to spend your summer and to get the perfect Montana experience. But do you know where to stay near Glacier National Park?
Places to stay near Glacier National Park
There are accommodations available nearby the park which you can book in advance–make sure you do it several months before your trip! There are some extravagant lodges and some rustic chalets also available that you can get to stay while you are enjoying your time at the Glacier National Park.
Lake McDonald Lodge
The first and the most popular accommodation near the Glacier National Park is the Lake McDonald Lodge near the western side of the park. It is a historic, rustic lodge that was built in 1913. While you are staying here, you will also have access to the amazing views of Lake McDonald, and it is easy to get to the major sights. There is an oversized fireplace also in the lobby that will provide you just the perfect place to hang out while you are here.
Motel Lake McDonald
Another one of the famous places to stay near Glacier National Park is this Motel Lake McDonald, which provides great views and a homey feel. A short distance from the west entrance, you’re right on the lake. Built in 1950, it has everything you need to relax after a long day of hitting the trails. Every room has one or two beds, and there is an outdoor staircase also available on the second floor.
Village Inn Motel
Another great spot to stay in Glacier National Park is the Village Inn Motel. It was built back in 1956; however, it was recently renovated in 2015. From the balcony, you can get an excellent view of Lake McDonald, where you can sit and enjoy your coffee or watch your kids swimming in the cold water. For those looking for a spot with all amenities including a refrigerator, kitchen, and more, this is one of the best spots to book on your Glacier vacation.
Sperry Chalet
Another spot that has recently been restored in Glacier is the Sperry Chalet. After burning down in 2017, it was rebuilt and is now taking reservations from guests. It’s a bit more difficult to get to than some of the other hotels in Glacier National Park, but if you are looking for a rustic getaway with plenty of hiking options, this is the place for you. Just make sure to book it well in advance since it tends to run out of room quickly.
Your Montana vacation should absolutely include a trip to Glacier National Park, and you want to make sure that you choose some accommodations that work for you and what you plan to see. No matter where you choose to stay, you can find some hotels and inns with amazing views and that offer you a chance to reconnect with nature.
