A honeymoon in Thailand can be spent beside the sea, exploring a northern city or moving between two very different parts of the country. Here are five destinations that give couples plenty of reasons to slow down and enjoy the time away together.
Karon Beach in Phuket
For couples looking at a honeymoon package Karon Phuket is a lovely choice for a beachfront stay with plenty nearby. Karon has a long sweep of sand, good sunset views and a calmer feel than Patong, while the island’s restaurants, viewpoints and boat trips are still easy to reach. It suits couples who want time by the water without having to stay somewhere isolated.
A beachfront resort can make the first few days after the wedding particularly easy. Some honeymoon offers in Karon include details such as a scenic room, floral bed setup, a meal for two and airport transfer, leaving couples free to settle in, head to the beach and enjoy the trip without organizing everything on arrival.
Koh Yao Noi
Koh Yao Noi is a good choice for couples who want a quieter island atmosphere. Located between Phuket and Krabi, it is close enough to combine with a Phuket stay but feels noticeably slower once you arrive. Chiang Mai offers a completely different type of honeymoon. The appeal lies in its restaurants, cafés, markets, temples and day trips into the surrounding mountains. It is a good place to spend a few days walking around, eating well and seeing another side of Thailand before flying south for time at the beach.
Combining Chiang Mai with Phuket can give a honeymoon a bit of variety without overloading the itinerary. The flights are straightforward, and each destination has a distinct feel, so the holiday changes pace rather than becoming a repeat of similar beach days.
Railay in Krabi
Railay has the type of coastal setting that immediately feels like a special trip. Reached by boat, it is surrounded by high limestone cliffs and beaches that are easy to enjoy on foot once you arrive. Couples can swim, kayak, arrange a boat outing or simply find somewhere for dinner after a day by the sea.
It is a particularly good choice for a shorter stay of three or four nights. Railay feels different enough to make an impression, but it is compact and simple to enjoy without needing a detailed plan for every day.
Koh Samui
Koh Samui suits couples who want a longer island stay with plenty of comfort and choice. The island has resort areas, spas, restaurants and boat outings, along with beaches that range from lively to much quieter. Some couples may prefer to explore and eat out each day, while others can easily spend most of the trip moving between the pool, the beach and dinner.
Thailand makes it easy to combine two destinations into one honeymoon without making the trip feel rushed. Karon and Koh Yao Noi offer a beach-focused holiday with two different paces, while Chiang Mai followed by Phuket brings together northern city days and a seaside finish.
